Thankfully, accommodation in Greece is not hard to find and, even on the islands, the places start to open up for the season. In fact, Easter is considered the kick-off of the tourist season although the prices never match the ones during the peak of summer.

Should you plan to do a bit of island hopping, you should know that the ferries within Greece are increasing frequency right before Easter. Typically, you cannot book more than two months in advance anyway, but it is advised to book at least a month out.

Do note that public museums and all other public facilities will be closed on Easter Day (Sunday), as well on the following Monday.

Research ahead of time to figure out which tavernas will be open. And of course, your host will always be the best source of information for places to eat and visit.

What to pack for Easter in Greece

Easter generally falls in April, which is right in the middle of spring in Greece. Although on some years, it may all in March or May, though. Expect sunny weather and a lot of wildflowers in bloom.

However, plan to wear layers, as mornings and evenings may still be a bit nippy.

Depending on what you plan to do during your trip, you may want to pack some light hiking boots and definitely don’t leave home without a rain poncho.

It’s always a good idea to bring a daypack, so you can take the essentials with you, whether you visit a city or go for a hike. And while we are at it, a power bank will serve you well, too.
