The Mykonos to Santorini ferry schedule is available at the bottom of the article.
It’s every traveler’s dream to visit the islands of Santorini and Mykonos . A ferry ride makes it possible to joggle a low budget and meet fellow travelers along the way.
Santorini or Thira?
When traveling by ferry in Greece we should remember that we are looking for connections between two ports and in many cases the name of the port doesn’t match the name of the island (as we know it in English). So when you need to look for connections to Santorini, look for Thira (Santorini) or the port code ATI.
How long does it take to get from Santorini to Mykonos?
The journey between Santorini and Mykonos takes between 2h and 3.5h, depending on the type of ferry you choose.
Is there a high speed ferry between Santorini and Mykonos ?
Yes, but the car ferry actually takes less than the catamaran, because of the routing.
How much does it cost to get from Santorini to Mykonos by ferry?
The price depends on the type of ferry , company and type of seat you choose.
However, only Sea Jets runs ferries on this route (when we updated the article) and the prices start at 89.20 eur / person / one way no matter the type of ferry (that allows cars or not).

No.
Where can I buy tickets from?
You can purchase the tickets online right here (with certain restrictions like couple of weeks up to 2 months before departure) or via a travel agency. Of course, you can buy the tickets directly from the port and unless you plan to travel during the high season you don’t need to worry about booking in advance.
Does everyone charge the same prices?
The prices are the same, no matter if you book online, via travel agency or buy them directly from the port.
However, when you book online, service fees may apply based on the country you book from. And if you choose to get the tickets deliver via courier, you’ll pay the shipping fee (you can choose to pick them up in the port).

We plan to travel by ferry from Mykonos to Santorini on 15 September 2009. Could you give me the time of a ferry and the cost one way. Thank you.
@Carol Dorkins: there’s the 2:45 pm running daily, except on Wed, until Oct 11.The price is the one mentioned above.
You cannot book the seats though. You should be able by July 15.
Have fun!
I just booked a ferry from Santorini to Mykonos in August on a Wednesday using Hellenic Seaways. I’m concerned now because your site says there are no ferries… please advise??
@ac: probably the HS departure doesn’t show up yet on the schedule I have. I will have to look into that.
@ac: you don’t need to worry, the new schedule was just updated.
hi you mentioend that the ferries run between Santorini and Mykonos until mid-October (Oct 11)and on the other hand during high season the ferries only runs up to 6/9 Sep. as im trying to book a trip for late/mid sep, pls advise as im not able to find any schedule for online booking. kindly advise, thanks.
@casey: only ONE ferry runs until Oct 11, the rest stop , as mentioned, by early Sept. That ferry is run by Hellenic Seaways but the schedule is not yet officially approved (this ferry will run from Sept 7 to Oct 10) so you might need to look either into emailing the company or plan your vacation by September.
You mentioned that at 9.55 am there is ferry from Mykonos to Santorini. Which company & where can I book the tickets. Where ever I searched on web, it only mentions 2.45 pm ferry of HS.
@Bhavana: it’s from Hellenic Seaways but you cannot purchase tickets yet (starting with June 19 only or shortly before that). Check their website in couple of weeks.
We are planning to go from Thira (santorini) to Myknonos in a one day journey while we are in Santorini. The date will be 22 or 23, september. Where can we find a schudele from departure, returns and the prices. And to go to Hidra from Santorini, how long does it take? Could you indicate a good B&B in SAntorini. I1ve hard the Mama Thira is closed?
Thanks for the help
@Marcia: after Sept 13, ferries run only on Wed (until mid Oct) and Sept 22 falls on a Tue. You need to either plan going to & back on Sept 23 or stay for a week in Mykonos.
There are several sites which sell ferry tickets but you cannot buy so far in advance (at least not from the major online booking sites). Just run a search in Google and you’ll get some links [I don’t like to recommend a particular site, sorry]
There isn’t any ferry linking Hydra to Santorini.
As for the B&B, you can run a search right on this page and check for the best ranking places.
we have booked ferry tickets online from Thira to Folegandros and are to pick them up at the Superjets office. How far in advance should we pick them up? Thanks for you advice.
@Katie: the company should advise. it doesn’t really matter though but you need to be in the port several hours b4 departure if you got an unnumbered seat (so it’s practically first come, first to sit down)
Hi Christina,
I’ve been trying to book Hellenic Seaways Flyingcat3 departing Sun 02 Aug 09: 09:55 Mykonos-Ios & it will not allow me to book & pay, but what I find strange is that the dark green icon is showing availability at 09:55 as opposed to red icon(no availability)& it will easily allow to book & pay for the same day Flyingcat4 departing at 14:45? I also noticed that on every Sunday from next week until the end of August the same thing-only allowing you to book & pay for the later 14:45 Vessel to Ios.
Thank you for your time & advice.
Much Appreciated,
Fab
@Fab: unfortunately that’s something you need to deal wt the ferry company directly. i’ve also noticed that you cannot purchase tickets for several departures. maybe they have the tickets “pre-sold” to travel agencies? either way, if the next vessel is ok for you, book that one.
Sorry…I don’t understand: the ferry Mykonos-Santorini (and return) from sept 7 to oct 11 runs only on wednesday or daily except wed???
please, help me!!!
@Valentina: the 9:59 a.m ferry between Mykonos and Santorini runs daily until Sept 6 and NOT on WED after that date (so daily except on Wed) . likewise, the 11:50 a.m ferry between Santorini and Mykonos runs daily until Sept 6 and NOT on WED (so daily except on Wed) after that date and the end of season
Hi Christina, we are hoping to travel from Mykonos to Santorini on 8th september but all the on line booking state no ferries available. can you advise whom I can book with for those dates. thanks you in advance
@barry
ferries don’t run on Sept 8. it’s a Tue after Sept 6…but you should be able to book 2 months in advance (and choose a date until Sept 13).
Is there any way to get from Mykonos to Santorini by ferry on Wednesday, September 16th? Do you know which company would have a ferry? I booked my travel plans a long time ago and now I am wondering if there are no ferries at all on Wednesdays.
@Marlien: on the booking website I use I cannot find any departure for Sept 16.
If you book a ferry ticket via a specific company it’s possible that it’s not included in the booking website I use or they don’t allow booking in advance via such engines.
Thinking to travel between Santorini – Mykonos in early Oct.
Outward on 8/10 & Return on 10/10.
Do you know roughly when the timetable will be confirmed ?
I would like to book accommodation at Mykonos but not sure if i can get there as planned.
Thanks for your help.
@Mabel: unfortunatelly right now there aren’t any ferries available on that route for those days. Generally speaking you should be able to book a ticket about two months in advance (so maybe sometimes next month). Alternatively you can check the ferry companies and see if their websites allow direct booking
I am looking to take a ferrie from Mykonos to Santorini. I read it takes 2.5 hours each way. My date is for August 26- possibly staying overnite returning to Mykonos on the 27th. What ferrie line do I look into, and what port does the ferrie leave and return to? Also any suggestions on a one night stay hotel, Or a one day tour to Santorini?
@Cathy:
You can choose the Hellenic Seaways company which runs the route.
Ferries depart from Mykonos (that’s also the name of the port) at 9:40 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. The first one gets to Thira (that’s the name of Santorini’s port) at 12:05 p.m. and the second one at 5:25 p.m. So yeah , depending on what you choose you are looking at abt 3 hrs on the the ferry.
As for the journey back there are two ferries: at 11:5 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. so you should stay a night in Santorini, otherwise the trip is not doable.
The total price is 76 euros/person (but i didn’t look on the company’s website; there might be special offers, etc)
As for hotel recommendations, I prefer not to offer any. Read the reviews and decide.
About what to do in Santorini, just check our page abt the island and there are some ideas:)
We would like to travel from Santorini to Mykonos on 4 Oct, I faced a same problems as everyone, it shows no ferries available. What should I do now?
@Vans Tam: I couldn’t see any ferry on that day either when i tried to book on a generic engine. The info i’ve got shows that the ferry which SHOULD run on that day is run by Hellenic Seaways, but couldn’t find any connection on their website either. The schedule might have changed but it’s not updated yet. So it’s very possible that there are no ferries in October between the two island and you should choose a flight.
I could find a connection on Sept 29 at 11:50 a.m. but nothing after that date.
Hello Cristina
We are planning to visit Mykonos on Oct 7 (Wed) 2009 from Athens, stay two nights in Mykonos, then on Oct 9 2009 (Friday), we will go to Santorini island.
1. Is there a ferry from Athens to Mykonos on Oct 7 2009? We could not find schedules from ferry website.
2. There are two ports in Athens, which port we should go from Athens to Mykonos?
3. There are two ports in Mykonos or Santorini (old and new), which one we should land? we read some comments about if you land in the wrong port.. then walk A LOT up to the hill.
4. From Mykonos to Santorini, we read some comments said there no ferry in Oct at at all but some said it has limited ferry schedule until Oct 11? Please advise if there is one on Oct 9 2009.
5. If there is a ferry running in Oct, which port we should take from Mykonos to Santorini?
6. How do we go around with baggage from the port, is there 24/7 buses running on Mykonos and Santorini? what is the transportation suggestion on Mykonos and Santorini?
7. Should we buy ferry ticket the day before? is there a long line for ferry tickets in the morning, no one wants to miss the ferry…
8. Is there any large lockers in ferry port area to save luggage and walking around the inland first before checking hotel (since checking in time is 3pm).
Appreciate if you can help.
p.t. usa
@p.t.
1) Yes, there are two ferries on Oct 7 from Athens to Mykonos;
at 7:35 am and at 6:30 p.m.; first is run by Blue Star Ferries and the second by Hellenic Seaways.
I found both on a booking website (email me for details at greece@logueit.com)
2) Athens’ port is Piraeus
3) You land where the ferry lands (they don’t list more than one port on Mykonos though)
4) I couldn’t find any ferry from Mykonos to Santorini on Oct 9. I’ve looked on the company’s website and they seem to stop service by Sept 30.
5) No, apparently the service stops on Sept 30. No updates yet.
6) Both are large islands so you’ll find some sort of transport available (including taxis)
7) You can buy the ferry online and worry not abt the line
8) I don’t know; haven’t run into that question yet and haven’t seen anything online abt it either. I travel light and I end up carrying the backpack wt me all the time (and my husband learned to do the same thing).
Thanks Cristina for your response quickly. Ferry schedule is quite confusion..
a. If there is no ferry from Mykonos to Santorini in Oct 2009, then what other options?
b. In your website as shown below stated there will be some ferry between 2 islands till Oct 11. can you clarify?
——-
How many ferries per day depart from Santorini to Mynonos during the low season?
The ferries run between Santorini and Mykonos until mid-October (Oct 11). Until April, there aren’t any ferries between the islands. However, starting with April there’s a ferry departing Santorini to Mykonos at 11:50 a.m. daily, with the exception of Wednesdays.
How many ferries per day depart from Santorini to Mykonos during the high season?
The high season runs between June and October and the following ferries are available:
at 11:50 a.m., daily (until Oct 11; after that date it doesn’t run on Wed); might not show up on online booking sites!
at 12:15 p.m., daily except on Tue (stops running on Sept 9)
at 12:20 p.m., daily (stops running on Sept 6)
at 12:45 p.m., on Mon, Fri and Sun until Sept 13; on Wed only on Sept
——
thanks.
@p.t.
please check your email and..
“It is always advisable to double check the schedule couple of weeks (or days) before departure as the schedule is submitted to the Ministry of Mercantile Marine every Friday so, in some cases, there can be some changes from week to week, let alone from month to month.”
so the “confusion” comes from the fact that the schedule is subject to change and we don’t get the changes in time to update the articles.
Hi We are trying to book a ferrie from Satorini to Mikonos by october 3rd, I have contact the booking agency and the Ferries companies since may when I planed my trip to greece and their responses was that the schedule was not yet updated. now that the date is getting closer I am afraid I wont be able to travel from santorini to Mikonos by this date.
Is it for sure that the ferries will run from santrini to Mikonos untill october 11, 2009.
Thanks.
@Camilo: no, unfortunately the schedule is not updated (I couldn’t find it updated yet, either). the article states clearly that the schedule might change from month to month. i’ve looked on the ferry companies websites and could only find departures after Sept 30. We’ll just have to wait until they update the schedule, unfortunately (check back wt them after Sept 15).
Hi! I want to book 2 tickets on the ferry from Mykonos to Santorini on Tuesday, September 29, but I can’t find it on the website to book. Any advice?
@Jacquie: we don’t sell ferry tickets. you need to book either on online booking websites or on the ferry company’s website. The company is Hellenic Seaways. And I found the last ferry on Sept 28.
Hi Cristina…I am hoping you can help me…I am planning a honeymoon and the last stop of this trip was from Mykonos to Santorini from the dates of 10/22 and then flying on an airplane on the 10/25. My concern is, since there is no ferries going to Santorini from Mykonos on that date..what other options are there for me? This is turning out to be a nightmare. Your expert advise would be greatly needed. Thank you.
@Raymond: I couldn’t even find regular flights between the islands in late October. They are pretty much “closed” at that time of the year.
Can you drop me an email at greece@logueit.com wt more details? We could try to find other ideas maybe.
hi, i seem to be experiencing the same problem as most people here….although there are various routes available between athens(piraeus)-santorini/mykonos, the return and or santorini/mykonos-ios/naxos….for some mysterous reason there are no stops or routes wther blue star or hellenic or anyone available on 22/10(dd/mm) or 23rd or 24th of oct for that matter. but there are plenty of flights from santorini to athens (agean and olympic) do give alternate options…i really really want to do santorini and mykonos between 22-24th october 2009. please help!
@neha devi singh: i have looked for ferries from Santorini to Mykonos (or the other way around) in late Oct and couldn’t find any. I couldn’t find any flight either, unfortunately.
The option is , as you said, via Athens , by plane.
I have been trying to book tickets on the ferry between Santorini and Mykonos for 15/5/2010
I note that the schedules may not be updated yet for that period but from your experience is there at least one trip per day – maybe not on a wednesday. Your help would be appreciated.
@Lynn: the schedule changes every season and while there will be departures, it’s hard to say on what day of the week.
Hi,
I will be travelling from Athens to Mykonos on July 9th 2010 and I am searching for a ferry either with Blue Star or Hellenic Seaways. I could not find anything.
As well, I am looking for a ferry leaving Mykonos arriving Santorini on July 14th 2010. Your help would be appreciated.
Thanks for everything!!!!
@David: the ferry schedule for next summer will be available by spring.
Hi,
I am looking for a ferry leaving Santorini to Mykonos on April 6th 2010. I checked the Hellenic’s website. But could not book the ticket. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
@Danny: the new schedule will be available soon. until then you cannot book anything.
We have completly booked our 3 week holiday to the Greek Islands except for the hop from Santorini to Mykonos on 6th April 2010. We are getting a bit worried because we cannot book it yet. Do you have any idea whaen the schedule will be published?. If we cannot do this hop we will have to reschedule almost our whole trip. We will very pleased for any infurther information you can give us.
Thankyou
@David And Patricia: it’s winter in Greece now and many ferry routes are closed until spring. the new schedule will be available by March or so. April is still off season and most likely there won’t be too many links anyway. Have you considered flying between the islands?
Thanks for your response – winter what a nice word! it was 43Degrees Celcius here in Perth today. We’re going to fly from Santorini to Athens and then Athens to Mykonos – that’s the only way. Thankyou.
Hi Cristina, I am looking to travel with my wife from Santorini to Mykonos on the 8th June 2010,
However from http://www.ferries.gr/hfd/, the page mentioned that there is no sailing for Hellenic Seaways FlyingCat4 on the 8th of June. Do you know if there is any other other ferry that we can travel with on that day?
Thanks in advance.
@Ken Lim: the new summer schedule will be available by mid to end March. until then…
Appreciated. Cheers *_*
@Kim: you have to do that on the site you booked. click on the banner and then read the details for canceling your ticket

Thanks for the info cristine, it’s weird that hue sites only say the 7th to santorini, why is this? You must be in the know
Regards
Nick
@Nick: I get all info from a ferry booking site (which is linked at the top of the article, so you can check yourself)
the price it’s for one way only?
@Kira: yes, just double the price for a return trip
Thanks for all your help Cristina! One last question all the site say that the ferry from Mykonos to santorini is “not available” for the 08 of sep, does that mean it’s booked out already or would we still be sweet to get tickets when we get there.
Thanks heaps!!
Nick
@Nick: I did the same search and it shows as fully booked already. So you cannot get tickets for that ferry online (might try your luck in the port). You can book tickets on any of the ferries departing on Sept 9 though.

I could tell you how I make a reservation?
I hope your answer.
