Ecotourism & agrotourism in Greece – responsible ways to travel

crete
In its simplest form, ecotourism can be defined “tourism focused on the natural environment”. Scientists also like to place emphasis on involving the local communities as ecotourism is meant to have minimal impact on local cultures and ecosystems. Agrotourism can be viewed as a form as ecotourism and focuses on vacations taking place on a farm (and during which visitors have a chance to actively be involved in the farm work).

All over Greece, tourists have a chance to stay in agrotourist units, where they can get acquainted with the traditional way of life, local agricultural, traditional cuisine and cultural elements. Moreover, such units are also linked with different businesses, hence providing a wide range of programs, such as outdoor activities, ecological tours or art workshops.
