How to find cheap accommodation in Greece

LooknWalk Greece is the proud affiliate of Booking.com, one of the best sites to look up cheap accommodation anywhere in the world. If you purchase through our links, we may get a small commission (but this won’t influence the price you pay).

Us, the owners of LooknWalk Greece always use this tool for our own stays, therefore we gladly recommend it to our users.

And since we want you to benefit from the best of what the site offers, here are the quick steps to ensure you always find the best accommodation for your travels in Greece: whether you need a cheap place or something fancier (for a wedding anniversary, for example).

Step 1

Use the widget below. Enter the city you want to go and when you want to travel.

Booking.com

Hit Search and you’ll be taken off our site and to the Booking .com one.

In order to take screenshots for this article, we’ve searched for a place in Athens during September 3-7, 2019, 1 room, 2 adults.

Step 2

Filter the results.

I prefer to do it in this order:

  • price (lowest first)
  • show me private rooms only

Now you have a list of places, from the cheapest, and all are private rooms. You also want to filter for: Room Facilities: Private bathroom.

Step 3

You can either start going through the results or filter further. Personally, I filter further for:

  • Your Budget: US$0 – US$50 per night
  • Review Score: Very Good 8+

With the two additional filters applied, here’s how the search results look now:

Notice that “genius” tab? And also, the first results mention this? If you’ve been using your booking .com account for a while, you qualify for various genius perks, including discount.

Genius offers always show up first.

We do prefer to stay close to the city center, so I do use a landmark filter (in this case Syntagma Square).

With this final filter applied, that genius offer is great. Under US$50 per night, 8+ rating, close to the center, an apartment.

You can also filter to pay at the property (which is great if you are unsure if you can go).

Step 4

Before booking the place, check the following:

  • Check in / check out time
  • Cancellation policy
  • Children / pets allowed or not
  • Quiet hours
  • Smoking / non-smoking
  • Read reviews (both on platform and off-platform)

Step 5

Always re-confirm your accommodation at least 72 hours before the arrival.

My “trick” is to email and ask pretty much anything. i.e. What happens if my flight is delayed and I need to change the arrival hour? Can I keep the luggage somewhere before we head to the airport on the day of the departure?
Anything to get them to answer back. And of course, I mention something like “could you please re-confirm my reservation for…?”
